Client: Sedex
Challenge:
Sedex operates at the forefront of ethical supply chain management, providing businesses with tools to monitor and improve social, environmental, and governance (ESG) practices across global supplier networks. The buyer dashboard, a critical interface for supply chain visibility, was outdated, complex, and lacked intuitive user guidance. The existing UI and UX did not meet modern usability or visual standards, making navigation cumbersome and inefficient. Buyers needed an easier way to invite suppliers, monitor compliance, and track ESG goals, while suppliers often managed hundreds of sites, making data organisation and communication challenging.
Solution:
I led the complete redesign of Sedex’s buyer dashboard, transforming it into a user-centric, intuitive platform that streamlines supplier management and ESG tracking. Additionally, I developed the strategic vision to introduce innovative features leveraging AI and real-time analytics to enhance supply chain resilience and ensure long-term scalability. This project was both a redesign of the existing product and a forward-thinking feature vision that sets the foundation for future enhancements. Key improvements included:
Predictive Weather & Risk Alerts: Integrated AI-driven insights that notify buyers and suppliers of potential environmental risks, such as extreme weather conditions that could impact factory operations, transportation, or supply chains. This feature helps businesses proactively mitigate disruptions and ensure resilience in their operations.
ESG Goal Setting & Predictive AI: Integrated technology that allows buyers to set sustainability targets for suppliers, with AI-driven insights predicting potential risks (e.g., weather disruptions affecting factories).
Complete Widget Redesign: Overhauled the dashboard’s widget system to be fully customisable, enabling users to personalise and prioritise key metrics based on their needs. This resulted in a more intuitive and efficient user experience.
Full Rebrand Implementation: Led the UX/UI transformation to align with Sedex’s new brand identity, introducing a fresh colour palette, modern typography, and updated UI components to create a more cohesive and visually appealing experience.
New Component Design: Developed a range of modern UI components, including interactive data visualisations, streamlined navigation elements, and adaptive layouts to improve accessibility and engagement across devices.
Seamless Buyer-Supplier Collaboration: Developed a video call feature enabling direct communication between buyers and suppliers, enhancing transparency and real-time issue resolution.
Advanced User Research & Testing: Conducted in-depth research through direct interviews at Sedex’s annual conference, gathering insights from both buyers and suppliers. Combined qualitative feedback with A/B testing and user analytics to optimise the interface for clarity and usability.

Process:
Following a user-centric and agile approach, I ensured continuous validation and iteration of design choices:
Discovery Phase: Conducted UX research, competitor analysis, and stakeholder interviews to define pain points and opportunities.
User Testing & Validation: Utilised in-person interviews, moderated and unmoderated testing, and platforms like UserTesting.com to assess the existing dashboard and validate new designs.
Wireframing & Prototyping: Created interactive wireframes and prototypes, ensuring seamless user flows before development.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Worked closely with product managers, engineers, and leadership teams, contributing strategic insights at board meetings to align UX with Sedex’s long-term vision.
Outcome:
Clearer Product Vision & Strategy: Defined a long-term roadmap that aligned with Sedex’s mission of ethical supply chain visibility and operational resilience.
Innovation & Competitive Edge: Introduced cutting-edge features such as AI-powered risk prediction and real-time collaboration, positioning Sedex as an industry leader.
Stronger Brand Identity: Successfully implemented a refreshed brand experience with a modernised colour palette, typography, and UI elements that improved the platform’s overall aesthetic and usability.
More Intuitive UI Components: Designed and integrated new interface components to improve navigation, data representation, and overall user experience.
Scalable Future Vision: The redesign laid the groundwork for continuous improvements and feature expansion, aligning Sedex with emerging industry trends and technological advancements.
